DRUNKEN

One day it came to pass that I’d met a drunken man on the street, who plainly preached about faith and love. I looked at him and thought to myself, “What the hell are you doing here? You’re drunk, yet you dare to tell about spirituality”. And before I knew it, Light said to me, “Your ego does not allow you to accept sincere words of this man, regardless that he is drunken. He is intoxicated with alcohol, whereas you’re intoxicated with your ego. So is there really a difference between you both? As the alcohol, so does the ego – equally blind the mind and make it turbid and obscure”.

That was one of the strongest revelations I’ve ever gotten. Ever since that moment I’ve mastered one more truth about the unruly mind: no matter whether you’re drunk with alcohol or drunk with your ego. Either of them impedes serene thinking, and hinders the realization of our unity with Source. Thus, every time one indulges one’s ego, one gets drunk badly.
